Cultural Aesthetics, MaXhosa

LADUMA-0652 MC5 MC5

We see ourselves as avid trend hunters and always wanting to be in the know of the who is who of all things design. Fashion design is no exception but we have made a conscious decision to steer clear on the blog as there are many blogs and sites doing it successfully. We came across the MaXhosa on the Fashion meets Design issue of Elle Decoration South Africa. We are absolutely loving how the African aesthetic has been translated onto the african knitwear label. We are loving the current  art direction and campaign for the brand. Laduma the designer behind the knitwear label wanted to design knitwear that“genuinely depicts my cultural aesthetics” inspired by traditional Xhosa patterns, beadwork, symbolism and colours which he then combined with modern knitwear to create this modern-inspired Xhosa knitwear.”
