Branding for Lithaflora African Tea

Litha (pronounced lee-tah) means “star” in a South African dialect, and is interpreted as a “bringer of knowledge or enlightenment”. The Lithaflora tea blend,  includes indigenous ingredients from remote areas in Cape Town, were created with wellness in mind; these teas promise to balance your mind, body and soul through rare African medicinal botanicals that have been handpicked for your indulgence.

We came across the Lithaflora tea brand whilst doing some research on branding and communication for African brands. The simplicity of the branding and packaging have an African inspired element as the pattern and triangles are reminiscent of African tribal art and patterns. I personally think it is interesting to see the African aesthetic being translated in diverse ways and on this occasion the application is subtle and appropriate. The designers behind the brand have successfully translated the African element with the subtle colours and the packaging makes herbal tea enticing.
