Art Appreciation Zeddy Benson

I came across the artist above via African digital art. The subject is a former Ghanian President Kwame Nkrumah.

He was Ghana’s first president and leader of its predecessor state, the Gold Coast from 1952 to 1966. He was the first also Prime Minister of Ghana.

An influential 20th century advocate of Pan-Africanism, he was a founding member of the
Organization of African Unity and was the winner of the Lenin Peace Prize in 1963.

The artist use of free hand sketch and mixed media captures his topic in a raw yet interesting way. I would consider the art quite modern. You can check out more of the artist’s work here.
