Oliver Enwonwu, last son of the late world-renowned artist and sculptor, Professor Ben Enwonwu. A graduate of the University of Lagos, from where he obtained qualifications in Biochemistry and Geophysics, Enwonwu did not attend art school. As a child his father encouraged him to draw and paint upon discovering his outstanding abilities.
Growing up, he spent a lot of time in his father’s studio learning the rudiments of arts. Enwonwu’s canvases are simply a celebration of the rhythmical movements of the female form in dance. I had the privilege to work for Mr Enwonwu and I might add his works are a celebration of the human form especially women.
His dedication to his art and promoting local and emerging artists in Nigeria. He is currently the chairman of the President of the Nigerian society of artists Lagos chapter.
