Ssaali Yusuf, a young artist from Kampala, Uganda is currently making waves in the African art scene. He holds a Bachelor Degree from Makare University, Kampala. He currently lives as a professional painter in Kampala. He has been involved in exhibitions in the art scene in Europe in the recent years. Ssali’s uses the African woman as his main source of inspiration, he draws from different stages in the African woman’s life from the teenage years to nursing mothers.

The colours he uses are rich, strong, bold and well-defined. Ssali’s works are oil and acrylic based on canvas, back cloth and sucks on art papers. I personally like the simplicity of his works as the African woman is  the primary focus on the canvas. One thing I did wonder was why most of his works were side profiles of the women. I would definitely buy his art.I could just imagine them in a lovely gallery or my future home.
